Open TikTok on any given afternoon and you'll find thousands of videos soundtracked by the same thing: a low, humming drone, maybe layered with soft rain or a barely-there piano melody. There's something happening here that goes beyond a passing audio trend. For a generation that grew up with anxiety as a near-universal shared experience — and that came of age during a pandemic that obliterated traditional mental health infrastructure — sound has become a surprisingly serious wellness tool.

The statistics on anxiety among younger Americans are stark.
